FLYING WONDERLAND – AN AIRPORT-THEMED MASTERPLAN

Kai Tak Zone
An unobstructed runway is kept to maintain the original site character, it is planned for public to enjoy and to recall the old kai tak airport.

The runway is the planning generator to divide the higher density zone (hotel/ retail/ entertainment) and the low density zone (landscape/ pavilion/ parking apron).

The runway tip will house a special inclined ferris wheel to recall the airport take-off/ landing scene among buildings.  The tip will also house many fantasy entertainment programmes and ‘flying programmes’.

Water Body Zone
The water body is a knitting device for kai tak and kwun tong area, so it will house programmes like water movie, water show and floating restaurant that the entire water frontage can enjoy, for both locals and tourists.

All existing kwun tong piers will be activated as boat trip centre/ water taxi and fishing hub.

A cross-harbour zip line is proposed to create a unique urban harbour entertainment.

Kwun Tong Zone
3 artist workshop and studio buildings, public galleries, public landscaped deck, bicycle park, pet garden and a public transport interchange are integrated with the existing neighboring urban fabric and the future new monorail station.
